As an element of digital India, The Indian government took another step towards the safety of vehicles in the province. From 19th Oct 2020. it’s mandatory for all the new vehicles to put in a high-security number plate in their vehicles.
To confirm compliance with this new rule, all regional transport offices (RTOs) within the state too are instructed to neither issue new vehicle-related documents that are mandated by law or perhaps renew any of those documents for any commercial vehicle without the HSRP. What this basically means is that RTOs will not execute processes like new permit, permit renewal, fitness certificate renewal, change of address, transfer of ownership, renewal of RC, etc. for non-compliant commercial vehicles.

There has been increased specialization in HSRPs after the Delhi transport department recently issued a notice commanding all vehicles sold before 1 April 2019 to be affixed with high-security registration plate (HSRP) and color-coded stickers. The Delhi government’s order is in line with an older Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) mandate that needs all vehicles within the country manufactured and sold before 1 April 2019 to possess a high-security registration plate and color-coded stickers.

Government Role on HSRP HSRPs is number plates embedded with chips that store ownership details additionally as data about the vehicle’s engine and chassis number within the government’s central database.
